TERA Elite vs Founders
Tags : tera, tera gold, buy tera gold, tera news
When playing TERA, there are three different classifications of accounts: free, Elite and Founders. We're going to be taking a look at the Elite and Founders classes, going into the benefits of each (and what it really means to you as a player) and their values.
How to Obtain Elite or Founder Status
Elite status is the same thing as a normal subscription when the game was still pay-to-play, although there are no longer any discounts for paying for multiple months at once (at this point you have to go month-to-month instead). As a result, the cost is $14.99 a month.
Founder status is getting harder to obtain now, as it is only rewarded by using a game key from a physical or digital copy of the game. The reason this is hard to obtain is that neither of them are being made anymore, so you have to purchase them from someone who has left-overs from before the game went free-to-play. It's important to note, however, that this is primarily meant for those who got the game before it was free, so being harder to obtain makes sense.

Rather than go over every single benefit, we're going to look at them based on what is exclusive (those exclusive to only Founder or only Elite).

Value
When it comes to the value, having Founder status is by far the most beneficial for most players. It comes with 288 bank slots by default, an increased number of items that can be listed on the broker (although less than Elite), a custom mount and 8 character slots. You can view it as containing all of the essentials for being a successful player and being able to take part in all the game offers (you can do so with the free accounts as well, but the character slots, bank slots and broker slots all enhance the game considerably). When you add in the login queue priority boost, the value of having this really starts to shine.
Based on the above, a great question is "then why would I sprint for Elite, when Founder has all that I need?" And this is a great question! The best way to look at Elite is as containing the "desirables" (things you want). While they are far from being needed, it contains things that can make a massive difference in one's enjoyment of the game. A simple breakdown of these is as follows:
-
Strongbox keys – these are for "playing the lottery" as many players consider it, by opening boxes to obtain rewards. These can alternatively be sold to others
-
Village Atlas – this is an awesome benefit that allows you to travel to anywhere from anywhere. It eliminates the need of heading to a town with a Pegasus platform in order to travel, and instead allows you to just hop up and take off! It's important to note that this can only be claimed on one character, and they have a use time of 30 days. Some great news, though, is that you are able to save these up if you aren't ready to use them (they don't expire for over 4 years)! Just be sure you don't accept any on a character you won't be playing much, or the use will be wasted
-
Experience, gold and reputation boosts for an hour a day. These are excellent because they allow you to level up faster and gear faster (if you need the gold or are going for reputation-based items). And since you get each of these bonuses every day for an hour, it gives more reward for returning for daily play
-
Decreased prices in the cash shop. This one's a bit hit-and-miss, though, as the number of items on sale is pretty low. As a result, you won't always be able to get what you want, but if you do find items you like this can be of a great benefit, depending on how much you are purchasing
-
50 Broker postings with no listing fees. This is the best benefit by far. It means you are able to sell items without worrying about losing money if they don't sell, and also grants more items on the list at once so you can clear out your inventory (or flip items) much faster
Which is Right for Me?
This is going to depend on your own personal play style If you are a more hardcore player that spends a lot of time in the game, you will benefit greatly from having both statuses (Founder and Elite). If you are a more passive player, having just Founder is beneficial. While the Elite does have things that will help the more passive player progress a bit faster, its value is more geared towards those that are going to be on daily and taking part in a lot of dungeons and such.
In any case, Founder is well worth springing for, despite its cost of around $60 as of this post. The benefits it grants are great, especially considering there are no costs on top of its initial purchase price.
