Report: South Korean Online Game Market Grew 20% in '08

The online games more in South Korea, where broadband access is near-ubiquitous and PC ownership is 80%, grew by more than 20% in 2008, according to a report from market research firm Pearl Research.
The top give online game operators in Korea all saw revenue increases last year, including NHN (up 51% from 2007); Nexon; NCsoft (up 5%); Neowiz (up 29%); and CJ Internet (up 21%).
The majority of online games in Korea operate on a free-to-play basis, generating revenue through the sale of virtual items.
Top titles in the country include NCsoft's "Aion" and "Lineage"; CJ Internet's "Sudden Attack"; Electronic Arts' "FIFA Online 2"; and Activision Blizzard's "World of Warcraft."
